Beach, Jungle & Cenote:
The Wedding Of Flor & Marco

Punta Venado Wedding

This was our last event before the pandemic of COVID-19 started, and what a wedding!  It had little pieces of our beautiful destination for each event: Catholic ceremony by the beach, Mayan Wedding by a Cenote, Cocktail by a Lagoon and Reception in the middle of the jungle, in a natural reservation at Tulum.

We took a little more than one year to plan it with Flor and Marco, they are both wedding photographers in Culiacan, Sinaloa, in the north of Mexico as well as many of their friends and they had a very clear idea of what they wanted for their wedding: they wanted to take their guests out of their comfort zone, to awe them with the beauty of this side of the country and have an adventurous event but always mindful of their budget.

Keep reading to know each and every single detail we prepare to wow and dazzle their guests!!

The Getting Ready

Flor and Marco rented a villa in Playacar for their families and gave the benefit to all their guests to book airbnbs, boutique hotels or all inclusive resorts, as they preferred.

On February 29th, the getting ready for the girls started early… around 6:00 am because they had to do first look shots  before the mass, which was at 2:00 pm and hair and make up was in charge of one of Flor friends.

The First Look

The Catholic Ceremony

The original venue for the mass was  the jungle, near by the reception area, Flor and Marco asked a Priest from Culiacan to come and give them his blessing in a wonderful ambience surrender by the presence of God.

However, days before the wedding, the venue made some alterations on the natural reservation and the location lost a bit of its beauty, so we quickly reached out to our friends from Punta Venado Beach Club and got a special deal to celebrate just the mass here and we quickly work our magic to change the logistics and vendors to this place.

The result was stunning: the beauty of the place exceeded the guests expectations and our couple’s…

We offer bottles of water, fans and umbrellas to help with the heat in the afternoon and even with a little sun, it was the perfect wedding.

The Mayan Wedding

Cenote Uxuxubi

The original original plan, was to have only a Mayan Ceremony by a cenote but after Flor and Marco invited the Priest to celebrate their wedding here, we had to move logistics and leave this celebration for later. It was surprise number 2!

Uxuxubi, is located in the heart of the jungle, a 20 minute-drive through vegetation, literally in the middle of nowhere, not even WIFI and this part was one of the things our couple liked the most: their guests would be completely present! they didn’t have to worry about “unplugging” the ceremony plus the expectation that their family and friends when they wondered “Where are they taking us?!”

Finally they arrived to this semi-open cenote in a cave, the “Sahumadora” was expecting them to cleanse them with the Copal smoke and the ancient warrior was playing some ancient beats in his drum.

Finally the bride and groom arrived togheter and walk “down the aisle” to receive Mother Nature’s blessing.

The Reception

Mayan wedding in Cenote

After the  ceremony, all the guests did a 5 minute-drive to the cocktail / reception area to drink beers and fresh “Passion fruit” water.

We had a station with mini sandwiches and candies for guests to enjoyed while the couple took photos at a Lagoon close by. Flor and Marco wanted to provide a refreshment for their guests but keep it in the budget so instead of hiring appetizers with our caterer, we suggested to get mini croissants at a local shop and packed them individually so this allowed us to keep the guest’s experience.

Flor was in charge of picking the decoration, she opted for glass bottles with fresh flowers in blush and white tones and a palm leaves runner with a bunch  of candles for a more romantic look.

The tables “numbers” where photos of them in different cities of the world telling a brief story of an outstanding moment they experience there (their adventurous souls force them to travel whenever they can… just a hint, they got engaged at the Taj Majal ¡¡!!)

For dinner they wanted a more relaxed menu that everyone would like: Mexican Tacos! Different dishes were served in family style on every table, then right after dinner Marco had a surprised for Flor… he sang a song to her 😍 our hearts melted as well as everyone’s in such a romantic moment! Then the couple did their first official dance as husband and wife and kept dancing with their family and friends until midnight!!

Not to brag, but it was a delight to have several guests approaching us to tell us and different wedding this had been to them! (And a lot worked in the romance industry!). To hear words of appreciation expressed by the bride’s parents and have the bride crying of happiness for having the wedding of their dreams is beyond this world… words cannot express and those moments will be forever in our hearts!!

Thank you Flor and Marco! For choosing us over hundreds of other great professionals in the area, for being so authentic and tru to yourselves and for trusting us with one of the most important days of your lives. This will definitely be one for the books!!
